Job Description
As part of the WSP Rail Station team, the Associate Director – MEP (Rail) leads teams delivering rail MEP building services for major railway projects. Responsibilities include full technical delivery from concept through RIBA 4/GRIP 5 stages, client engagement, and multi‑disciplinary coordination.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead the Rail stations M&E design team.
* Liaise M&E design with the client/contractors.
* Act as the focal point between the client team and the WSP design team.
* Work closely with the M&E design team to resolve design issues.
* Lead a team of M&E engineers.
* Apply knowledge of Rail stations mechanical, electrical, public‑health (and, advantageously, telecoms, fire) systems.
* Ensure compliance with Building Regulations Part L and MEP sustainable / Net‑Zero design requirements.
* Realise WSP and client net‑zero carbon commitments through sustainable, low‑carbon design.
* Share knowledge and technical skills across the WSP global team.
* Interpret client specifications and standards in the development of designs.
* Demonstrate contractual and commercial awareness of Employer’s Instructions, early warnings and other contractual correspondence.
Qualifications & Experience
* Experience leading MEPFC building services design teams in rail or regulated environments during design and construction stages.
* Qualifications meeting the requirements for chartership with a UK Engineering Institution.
* Understanding of HS2, Network Rail, and/or London Underground standards.
* Familiarity with M&E building services design requirements in rail or similar regulated environments.
* Experience working with M&E clients/contractors during initial design, detailed design and preferably construction stages.
