Senior Pricing Actuary, Marine

In this role you will report to the Head of Pricing Marine and support Marine underwriters globally in all aspects of Marine Pricing. You will be focused on Marine Hull and Liabilities covering c. $325m of written premium worldwide although there will be ample opportunity to be involved with the other Marine lines – Cargo, and Inland Marine. You will have two direct reports and will have exposure to both the UW and Actuarial leadership teams through quarterly business reporting meetings as well as the annual planning exercise.

What will your essential responsibilities include?
1. Ensure AXA XL is a leader in the field of technical pricing and portfolio management.
2. Maintain and improve the Pricing view of loss ratio by peril for Marine Hull and Liability.
3. Build pricing models for new products or where the tools do not currently exist and fostering their use.
4. Maintain and streamline existing actuarial pricing tools, including working with senior team, and ensuring all tools are calibrated appropriately.
5. Case pricing of large accounts/peer review of case pricing by others
6. Manage data collection processes from pricing tools and analyze that data, including regular reports on rate change and profitability metrics.
7. Present the pricing metrics to the UW leadership teams as appropriate.
8. Challenge Actuarial and UW leadership, Reserving and Capital modelling.
9. Drive appropriate consistency in pricing and portfolio analysis across Marine worldwide.
10. Ensure efficiency of pricing processes within Marine.
11. Ensure compliance with pricing guidelines by the marine pricing team.
12. Ensure delivery of core tasks such as planning, core pricing metrics and trend.
13. Training of underwriters in pricing matters.
14. Liaison with Legal Entity Finance Staff and Regulators for Marine Pricing matters
15. Leverage other AXA XL capabilities, DCP, Risk Consulting, Strategic Analytics…
16. Effectively inspire, develop, and manage the 2 direct reports.
