We are currently recruiting for an experienced Scheme Delivery Manager to join a long-term highways maintenance and improvement contract in Suffolk.
This is a key role within a busy construction delivery team, overseeing multiple schemes and ensuring works are delivered safely, on time, within budget and to the highest quality standards.
This position is ideal for a proactive construction professional with strong leadership skills and proven experience delivering highways or civil engineering projects.
Key Responsibilities
* Manage and maintain construction programmes to ensure works are delivered safely, on time and within budget
* Coordinate labour, plant, materials and subcontractors efficiently
* Ensure Construction Phase Plans, method statements and safe systems of work are in place prior to works commencing
* Maintain high HSEQ standards across all schemes
* Liaise with key stakeholders including local authorities, designers, network managers and community representatives
* Ensure all site personnel are competent, trained and compliant
* Take responsibility for commercial performance in collaboration with commercial teams
* Maintain accurate site records including site diaries, resource allocation and as-built information
* Support programme development, phasing plans and construction methodologies
* Build and maintain strong relationships with supply chain partners
* Support Early Contractor Involvement (ECI), buildability reviews and traffic management integration
* Participate in value engineering and value management activities
* Work in line with internal quality, safety and environmental procedures
Requirements
Qualifications
* SMSTS or IOSH
* CSCS
* Full UK Driving Licence
* HNC or Degree in a construction-related discipline (desirable)
Experience & Skills
* Proven experience delivering highways or civil engineering schemes
* Strong understanding of health and safety management
* Ability to manage costs and control budgets effectively
* Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
* Collaborative team player with a proactive mindset
* Innovative approach with the ability to identify improved methods of working
