Overview

Multi-Agency Rapid Response Service (MARRS) Practitioner – Band 5. Main area CAMHS. Permanent full-time role (37.5 hours per week). Office base: Cornwall (Bodmin, Truro or Helston) with a 24/7 shift-based service. Salary: £31,049 - £37,796 per annum. Closing date: 19/10/2025 23:59. Sites: Cornwall - Base TBC. Role context

Childrens mental health services are evolving, with the MARRS model delivering urgent care across services for children and young people with mental health and social care crises in Cornwall, 24/7, 365 days a year. The service focuses on an integrated pathway that supports families in a joined-up way. The team is integrated with CAMHS, wider child and family health services, and Cornwall Council’s social care for children and families. The MARRS team will operate county-wide, provide short-term intensive interventions, home treatment where appropriate, and work to prevent hospital admission.


Main duties of the job

* Work intensively with young people with acute mental health difficulties in crisis to prevent inpatient admission where possible.
* Provide urgent assessments in hospital or community settings and short-term intervention, including intensive support at home.
* Operate a shift-based rota covering 24 hours a day, 7 days a week to ensure service accessibility and timely response.
* Collaborate with Southwest Collaborative, Sowenna CAMHS Inpatient Unit, Community CAMHS, andChildren's Social Care colleagues as part of the Acute Care Pathway.
* Engage with families and other partners to support recovery and pathway continuity.

Person specification

Essential Qualifications

* Professional Qualification: Registered Nurse or other professional body (e.g., Social Work, Occupational Therapy).
* Experience of working in multi-disciplinary and multi-agency teams.
* Experience in mental health settings.
* Evidence of a professional development plan and ongoing training needs addressed.

Desirable criteria

* Professional Development plan.

Knowledge and Abilities

* Working knowledge of child safeguarding.
* Knowledge of Child Mental Health settings and development.
* Experience or knowledge of working with children or young people.
