We have an exciting opportunity for a talented professional to join the Surgical Division at Gloucestershire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. As Deputy Divisional Director of Operations for Surgery, you will provide leadership as part of the Senior Management team working for the Divisional Director.
The post requires someone with the ability to think and act strategically, set direction in a complex environment and manage relationships with a wide range of senior colleagues. You will have high level analytical, problem‑solving and communication skills, and a strong understanding of clinical specialty management across several specialties at once. You will have experience of delivering programmes of work and leading teams, including directing recovery planning at specialty level.
Both a flexible 'can do' attitude and a strong focus on delivery are essential. This role involves cross site working.

Main duties of the job
As Deputy Divisional Director of Operations you will further develop knowledge, skills & experience in:
* Complex operational management across multiple specialties.
* Line management of the divisional general managers.
* Lead on cross-divisional workstreams such as Children and Young People (CYP) elective recovery.
* Lead on the delivery of Financial Sustainability Programme workstreams.
* Support the delivery of high quality services to our patients through a refreshed divisional governance structure.
* Support specialty operational delivery linked to the trust & divisional strategic objectives.
Demonstrable experience in acute specialty management, enthusiastic & driven, with willingness to go the extra mile to achieve what is required for our patients & services. Educated to a Masters level or equivalent & have demonstrable & credible substantial experience of senior operational management roles in the health sector.
With excellent communication skills you will be able to establish your credibility at all levels internally & externally, and be able to quickly build relationships within your own team and the wider organisation.

Qualifications
* Educated to Master's degree level or equivalent
* Detailed knowledge of NHSE and other compliance and performance frameworks, safety, financial procedures and statutory regulations
* Evidence of continuing professional development
Experience
* Evidence of formal management development.
* Proven previous experience of working as a senior operational manager, or extensive leadership experience in an equally diverse and complex organisation.
* Demonstrable knowledge of the NHS financial regime and probity, and considerable proven experience of budgetary management.
* Proven track record of tactical management and delivery at senior level in a large, complex, service-focused organisation, including staff management, change management, performance management, and service improvement.
* Thorough knowledge and understanding of the concepts and practices of integrated service planning in complex organisations, analysing, synthesising and using complex data as the basis for strategic and tactical decisions, and scenario planning
* Experience of consultation, negotiation and influencing different stakeholders.
* Experience of building personal and professional credibility with clinical and operational senior managers, other Directors, staff, and the public.
* Experience of substantial operational management responsibility, built on extensive knowledge and understanding of financial, management and clinical issues associated with a large Acute Trust.
Knowledge/ Skills
* Demonstrable understanding of the structure and framework of the NHS and how the Trust delivers care within this.
* Understanding of the difference environments in which the Trust operates and ability to assess opportunities for innovation, revenue generation, partnership and enhanced care.
* Ability to interpret and communicate the Trust vision to all stakeholders, develop prioritised objectives and monitor a coherent delivery plan.
* Ability to contribute to effective board working and organisation, monitor compliance with risk management, legal, ethical, clinical, social and environmental requirements.
* Track record of successful organisation wide project management, including as Senior Responsible Office (SRO)/Sponsor or programme management delivery of formal change initiatives.
