Overview:
Are you seeking a Senior Quantity Surveyor role? Interested in working for a leading construction company? VANRATH is recruiting a Senior Quantity Surveyor for the Building Maintenance department in Belfast, Northern Ireland. The role involves leading all commercial, financial, and contractual aspects of multiple projects, focusing on maximizing profitability, legal and contractual compliance, and proactive management of commercial issues. Responsibilities include overseeing applications and valuations, ensuring prompt payments, and aligning activities with company policies. The Senior QS will guide commercial strategy and ensure successful project delivery from a financial and contractual perspective.
Key Accountabilities:
1. Project Financial Management: Manage budgets, forecasts, financial reports, cost control, and cash collection to maximize profitability.
2. Contract Administration: Lead contract preparation, negotiation, finalization, and ensure obligations are met with minimized legal risks.
3. Procurement and Tendering: Oversee procurement, evaluate bids, and select subcontractors and suppliers to ensure value and strategy alignment.
4. Cost Valuation and Reporting: Conduct valuations, manage payments, prepare final accounts, and oversee project profitability reporting.
5. Risk Management: Identify, assess, and mitigate financial and contractual risks to protect company interests.
The Ideal Candidate:
* Degree qualified or relevant qualifications
* Extensive experience as a Quantity Surveyor, with a proven track record in senior roles
* Strong understanding of construction methods, materials, and practices
* Proficiency in contract law, regulations, and safety standards
* Excellent commercial skills and experience with complex financial reporting
* Social Housing or maintenance background preferred
* Good IT, communication, negotiation, and influencing skills
* Strong time management and ability to work under pressure
