Breast Cancer Clinical Nurse Specialist

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a highly motivated, enthusiastic and clinically skilled nurse to join our existing team of Breast Cancer Clinical Nurse Specialists in a part‑time post of 22.5 hours. The post holder must have experience within breast cancer pathways.
The post holder will provide expert clinical and supportive care for patients diagnosed with Breast cancer and work with the Local Multidisciplinary Team to support patients throughout their diagnostic and treatment pathway, providing individualised, compassionate and informed patient care.
Main duties of the job
- Provide appropriate specialist advice, support and education to patients throughout the Breast Cancer pathways, from diagnosis to treatment end.
- Provide specialist information, high‑quality care, assessment, advice and support for patients on a suspected breast cancer pathway, including investigative procedures and eventual diagnosis and treatment.
- Extend support to families/carers and other Health Care Professionals both internal and external to the Trust, promoting a seamless service within a multidisciplinary framework.
- Provide guidance, supervision and training to peers and junior staff.
- Ensure quality of care is maximised by establishing strong communication links with Clatterbridge Cancer Centre.
- Ensure national cancer targets are met along the patient pathway; alert appropriate personnel to prevent potential breaches.

Experience
- Current specialist knowledge in Breast Cancers
- Clinical experience in this specialty
- Experience of service development and implementation of change
- Experience of teaching and assessing in the clinical area
- Ward Management experience
- Broad range of clinical experience
Qualifications
- RGN
- 1st Degree or working towards one (Relevant healthcare related) or working at an equivalent level
- Teaching and assessing certificate
- Clear evidence of continuing professional development
- Clinical Examination/diagnostics module
- Advanced Communication Skills
- Ability to communicate complex and sensitive information to patients and relatives in a variety of settings
- Able to analyse data and provide written reports
- Able to manage work autonomously, within broad clinical parameters
- Knowledge of professional and NHS issues, and policy relating to specialist area
- Able to present information to professional groups
- Able to perform assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of nursing care
- In conjunction with other clinical colleagues, develop and plan specialised care pathways for patients
- Ability to clinically lead and influence staff
- Able to perform advanced clinical skills within the Trust Policy framework
- Ability to develop effective interpersonal relationships with colleagues
