A technology business designing and manufacturing semiconductor ICs and PCB assemblies for global communications markets is looking for an Electronics Test Engineer (RF/Microwave) to join their Test Engineering team. This is a varied role where you’ll develop and support RF test solutions, influence design-for-test, and help optimise test methods from development through to production.
The Role
As part of the test engineering function, you’ll be involved across the product lifecycle, including:
* Developing RF test hardware (e.g., DUT/load boards), plus supporting firmware/software where required
* Commissioning and improving the test facility, including writing specifications, procedures and documentation
* Maintaining and troubleshooting legacy test software, fixtures and equipment (component-level fault finding)
* Supporting production with test facility issues and improving test efficiency/throughput
* Optimising and structuring test sequences and software for faster, more repeatable testing
* Contributing to new product design reviews, ensuring testability is built-in from the start
* Developing new test methodologies for new and existing product lines
* Supporting reliability testing of new products
* Analysing test data (statistical/trend analysis) to drive continuous improvement
* Working within a Quality Management System and supporting ISO 9001 compliance
Key Skills and Experience
* Strong experience in board-level RF / microwave / electronics testing (subsystems, amplifiers, RF circuits, etc.)
* Practical RF circuit understanding: component-level test, debug and measurement
* Confident fault finding to component level on electronic systems
* Hands-on experience with VNAs and spectrum analysers
* Able to work across the lifecycle: from early development through to production support
* Clear communicator with strong documentation skills
Desirable (Nice to have)
* Programming/scripting: C, C#, Python, LabVIEW, FORTH
* Test automation using bench equipment (GPIB, LXI, PXI)
* RF design tools such as Keysight ADS
* PCB design exposure (e.g., Altium)
* Version control (e.g., Git/Subversion)
Benefits
* 25 days holiday + bank holidays
* Pension scheme
* Healthcare scheme
* Death in service (x4 salary)
* Free on-site parking
