Health & Safety Manager
Location: Stoke-on-Trent
Salary: Circa £50,000 (flexible depending on experience)
Hours: Monday to Friday, Flexible (8am-4pm or 9am-5pm)

A leading manufacturing organisation based in the Stoke-on-Trent area is seeking an experienced Health & Safety Manager to take ownership of their site safety systems and processes. This is a key leadership role, responsible for ensuring full legal compliance and fostering a strong safety culture across all departments.
The successful candidate will manage the full health & safety management system, lead training and development, and oversee compliance activities across the site-including involvement in COMAH-related responsibilities. You'll also have line management responsibility for key on-site personnel and play an important role in emergency preparedness and response.
Key Responsibilities
Lead the development, implementation, and ongoing improvement of health & safety policies and procedures
Ensure compliance with all relevant health & safety legislation and regulatory frameworks
Conduct risk assessments, incident investigations, audits, and inspections
Deliver and coordinate health & safety training across teams and departments
Support upper-tier COMAH site requirements, including safety reporting and liaising with the Competent Authority
Act as line manager for on-site support teams
Coordinate and manage service providers for site security, cleaning, laundry, and alarm systems
Oversee the procurement of PPE, workwear, first aid supplies, and hygiene materials
Participate in external audits, site exercises, and emergency response activities
Arrange health assessments and ongoing staff health surveillance
Ideal Candidate Profile
Essential:
NEBOSH General Certificate or equivalent Level 3 Health & Safety qualification
At least 3 years' experience in a dedicated Health & Safety role, ideally in a manufacturing or industrial setting
Strong knowledge of health & safety legislation and best practice
Desirable:
Experience working on upper-tier COMAH sites
Familiarity with permit to work systems
Background in chemical or process environments
Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.)
