Overview
We are seeking two passionate and dedicated piano teachers to join our music education team from October 2025.
The ideal candidates will have a strong background in piano performance and pedagogy, with the ability to inspire and engage students of all ages and skill levels. This role requires a commitment to fostering a love for music while providing high-quality instruction tailored to individual student needs.
As part of this role, you will also have the exclusive opportunity to complete the Level 4 Certificate for Music Educators (Trinity College London). Enact Music is a leading provider of this qualification, and we support our teachers with free in-house mentoring and access to all course resources—you will only need to cover the Trinity registration fee. Please note that this position requires teaching to be conducted in Belfast, Northern Ireland. Selected candidates will also need to undergo an NI Enhanced Check and must have the legal right to live and work in the UK at the time of application.
Work Schedule:
The position requires availability on weekdays from 3:00 pm to 8:00 pm and on Saturdays, from 10 am onwards, for at least five agreed hours. Additional hours may be available for those willing to work more.
Pay Structure:
Our teachers' hourly pay is linked to the proficiency levels of the students they teach:
* £26 per hour – teaching students from beginner level up to Grade 5
* £31 per hour – teaching students at Grades 6 to 8
* £40 per hour – teaching students above Grade 8
Earning Potential:
A teacher working 30 hours per week over 33 weeks per year could achieve:
* £25,740 per year at £26 per hour (teaching up to Grade 5)
* £30,690 per year at £31 per hour (teaching Grades 6–8)
* £39,600 per year at £40 per hour (teaching above Grade 8)
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement lesson that cater to the diverse learning styles of students.
- Teach healthy technique, music theory, and performance skills in an engaging manner.
- Assess student progress regularly and provide constructive feedback to encourage improvement.
- Prepare students for recitals, exams, and other performance opportunities.
- Maintain a positive and supportive learning environment that promotes creativity and self-expression.
- Communicate effectively with students and their families regarding progress and any areas for improvement.
- Stay updated on current teaching methods, music trends, and educational resources.
Essential Requirements
- Performance proficiency equivalent to at least grade 6 standard performance in accordance with the UK based instrumental music education exam boards.
* Proficiency in all or at least one of the following musical styles: classical, jazz, contemporary, Trad.
* Excellent communication skills with the ability to motivate and inspire students.
* Patience, creativity, and adaptability in teaching approaches.
* Based in Northern Ireland or willing to relocate.
* Driving license with access to a car.
* Be registered as self-employed with HMRC
DESIRABLE:
* A university degree in piano performance or in a Music Education related area, or a related field is preferred but not essential.
* Previous teaching experience (however, all training is provided).
* Ability to play additional instruments is a plus.
