The Opportunity

Salary: £26,403 to £26,824 per annum (£21,407 to £21,749 per annum, pro rata'd)

Working Pattern: Part time, 30 hours per week, ideally worked 5 days a week over Mon-Fri with flexibility of number of hours worked each day

Contract: Fixed term or Secondment until 30/11/2026

West Sussex Fire & Rescue Service (WSFRS) provides a friendly and welcoming environment, developing people, and helping them to reach their goals.

The team you will be joining, provides first-class fundamental support to departments across WSFRS.

You will maintain a customer centred service around all elements of the employee life cycle. Some of your daily tasks will include:

* Responding to manager and employee queries.
* Giving standard information and guidance relating to the team function.
* Supporting recruitment events.
* Preparing contracts and letters.
* Maintaining employee records.
* Calculating pay and other entitlements.
* Booking medicals.
* Producing reports.

You will be responsible for your own areas of work and will also be expected to support other team members as needed.

* Ability to complete tasks accurately with strong attention to detail.
* Interpersonal and customer service skills, with ability to build and maintain working relationships.
* Written and oral communication skills.
* Computer literate.
* Ability to manage business and employee information with confidentiality, discretion, and sensitivity.
* Ability to plan and prioritise own workload to meet tight deadlines and objectives, balancing competing demands and priorities.
