Optegra has an exciting opportunity for a Rapid Response Scrub Practitioner to join our highly skilled and dedicated regional clinical team.
This is a full-time, permanent position supporting three hospitals across the region: Manchester, Preston and Sheffield. The role requires a high level of flexibility and responsiveness, with travel required at a very short notice, either the evening before or on the morning of your shift.
As part of the Rapid Response Team, you will not be allocated to a fixed rota. Instead, you will provide vital support across the region, helping teams manage staffing shortages and maintain exceptional patient care standards where support is needed most.

The Role
As part of a multi-disciplinary team, and in alignment with Optegra values, ensure a comprehensive level of care provision to all ophthalmic patients, their relatives, or carers, across clinical and non-clinical care pathways, with an emphasis on quality patient care across all hospitals within the region.
Provide skilled clinical and technical assistance as a member of the operating theatre team, and may include peri-operative and post-operative care in the surgical and refractive suite of the hospital, and assisting with surgical procedures.
Maintain an out-of-hours emergency patient service for quality standards and continuity of care. Uphold the principles of clinical governance and the Care Quality Commission (CQC) to provide the most efficient and effective level of service.
Key Responsibilities
* Promote a sensitive, responsive and caring approach to all patients, visitors and colleagues within the hospital environment.
* Responsible for the delivery of high quality, safe and effective patient care throughout the patients’ visit to Optegra.
* Work in a manner that ensures maximum efficiency, effective utilisation of resources and seamless delivery of support to Consultants / Surgeons.
Requirements
* Registered General Nurse or Operating Department Practitioner.
* Registered Nurse 1st level registration with theatre course or equivalent experience, or ODP Level 3 NVQ in Operating department practice, or ODA City and Guilds 752.
* One year or more ophthalmology surgical theatre experience.
* Computer and IT skills – good working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
* Awareness of responsibilities in relation to NMC Professional Code of Conduct.
* Awareness of the role of CQC.
