Speech and Language Therapy Services Manager

The Speech and Language Therapy Service Manager post holder will be a key member of the Care Group F's Senior Leadership Team and will be accountable for the delivery of the care groups performance, financial, quality, safety, risk and patient experience performance.
Responsibilities
* Work alongside the Therapies senior leadership team and be responsible and accountable for providing comprehensive and robust professional leadership, guidance, advice, support and direction to the Speech and Language Therapy profession across their Care Group and the Trust, to ensure that patients are managed and cared for efficiently and effectively.
* Function at a senior level within the leadership team, proactively leading and providing solutions to resolve complex operational issues, in accordance with agreed objectives, targets, quality standards and resource constraints.
* Be part of the Leadership team in the implementation of patient centred clinical operational strategy and plans, ensuring that systems and processes are in place to comply with relevant legislation and governance requirements, linking with external bodies such as commissioners about service developments, contracts and clinical care pathways whilst utilising the expertise and skills of the wider leadership and corporate teams.
* Have overall responsibility for the promotion of Speech and Language Therapy Services.
* Be aware of local and national initiatives and integrate these into clinical practice e.g. Government targets, NICE Guidelines.
* Be responsible for writing profession specific policies, guidelines, and Standards of Practice.
* Have overall responsibility to ensure the Speech and Language Therapy Operational policy and Standard Operating Procedure is reviewed annually and updated.
* Have overall accountability and responsibility for ensuring that Speech and Language Therapy departmental policies and procedures are reviewed annually and updated.
* Have overall accountability to ensure that all service information leaflets issued to patients and carers have been through the Patient Information Forum and are reviewed and updated as required.
* Have overall accountability for ensuring the Speech and Language Therapy Service complies with Trust and departmental policies and procedures.
* Have overall accountability with specific responsibility for ensuring that Speech and Language Therapy staff are aware of Health and Safety legislation and comply with policies relating to the work area, including risk assessment and the prompt recording and reporting of incidents and ‘near misses’. To take necessary precautions to safeguard the welfare and safety of self and others.
