Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced and dedicated Locum Consultant in Medicine to join NHS Trust. The post holder will provide high-quality clinical care, lead ward rounds, supervise junior doctors, and contribute to the ongoing development of medical services within the Trust.
Key Responsibilities
* Provide consultant-level care to patients admitted under General/Internal Medicine.
* Undertake daily ward rounds and review of inpatients.
* Provide outpatient clinics as required.
* Offer on-call support according to rota commitments.
* Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams, including nursing staff, allied health professionals, and junior doctors.
* Contribute to teaching, training, and supervision of trainees, junior doctors, and medical students.
* Ensure compliance with Trust and national clinical governance, quality, and safety standards.
Sub-Specialties within Medicine (as applicable)
The successful applicant may be expected to manage cases across a wide range of internal medicine sub-specialties, including (but not limited to):
* Respiratory Medicine
* Cardiology
* Gastroenterology & Hepatology
* Endocrinology & Diabetes
* Renal Medicine
* Rheumatology
* Infectious Diseases
* Acute / General Internal Medicine
* Neurology
* Haematology
Essential Requirements
* Full GMC registration with a licence to practise.
* Inclusion on the Specialist Register (General/Internal Medicine or relevant subspecialty).
* Advanced Life Support (ALS) certification.
* MBBS or equivalent medical qualification.
* Significant consultant-level experience in General/Internal Medicine.
* Evidence of effective teamwork and leadership within a multidisciplinary team.
* Strong commitment to clinical governance, teaching, and supervision.
Desirable Requirements
* Dual accreditation in Acute/Internal Medicine and a medical subspecialty.
* Previous NHS consultant experience.
* Participation in research and audit.
* Evidence of ongoing CPD and teaching involvement.
Remuneration
Competitive locum rates, dependent on experience and hours worked.
Job Types: Full-time, Part-time, Permanent, Fixed term contract
Contract length: 12 months
Pay: £90.79-£125.00 per hour
Expected hours: 45 – 50 per week
