Position Overview
Applications are invited for an enthusiastic Research Laboratory Technician (Phenotyping and Horticulture) to join The Crop Science Centre (Department of Plant Sciences) to provide technical support for the research ongoing at the Centre, focusing on the phenotypic characterisation of rice and maize material alongside the effective care of the relevant plant material within the controlled environmental rooms (CERs) and glasshouse facilities.
Responsibilities
* Provide technical support for ongoing research focused on phenotypic characterisation of rice and maize material.
* Operate laboratory, microscopy and horticulture equipment within controlled environmental rooms (CERs) and glasshouse facilities.
* Design genetic crosses of engineered and natural variation material to advance mycorrhizal benefits for sustainable agriculture as part of the ENSA research programme.
* Collaborate with other technicians, postdoctoral researchers, Dr. Doris Albinsky and Prof Uta Paszkowski.
* Maintain plant care in the glasshouse and manage logistics, including driving to site with a manual licence.
Qualifications and Experience
* Experience working with plants in laboratory and greenhouse settings.
* Proficiency in microscopic techniques and phenotyping methods.
* Strong practical and organisational skills, ability to work in a busy environment.
* Good communication and teamwork abilities.
* Manual driving licence.
Contract and Additional Information
* Fixed‑term position funded until 31 March 2028.
* Health assessment required after acceptance of offer.
