Overview
The OPHTHALMOLOGY fellowship is available from August 2026 at the John Radcliffe Hospital. It is a 12‑month Clinical Fellow position focusing on ocular inflammation, medical retina, and optionally neuro‑ophthalmology.

Appointment Details
The post is whole‑time but accepts applications from those wishing to job‑share. Full‑time work is expected, however candidates unable to work full‑time may be considered with a personal modification of duties, and qualified job‑share candidates will be considered.
Eligibility & Requirements
Suitable for ophthalmologists who have completed their training to CCT level or have completed a significant part of their training and postgraduate examinations but wish to gain experience in the above subspecialties before a consultant appointment. The post is not an approved training post by the Royal College of Ophthalmologists.
Responsibilities & Clinical Exposure
Post holders will work within a dynamic team of uveitis and medical retina specialists, covering a wide range of subspecialist interests including paediatric uveitis, vascular medical retina, age‑related macular degeneration, ocular genetics, specialist retina, ocular oncology, Von Hippel–Lindau, neuromyelitis optica and neurofibromatosis type 2. The department also participates in a multidisciplinary service for the regional Juvenile Idiopathic Arthritis service.
