Purchasing Manager - Nottingham Area £75,000 - £85,000 + Package

Are you an experienced Purchasing Manager ready to take ownership of a high-impact function within a fast-paced retail environment? This is an opportunity to play a key role in shaping a diverse and commercially driven product offering within a well-established, growing UK business.
Operating within a specialist tools and equipment retailer, you’ll be responsible for driving a competitive, resilient supply chain across a broad product range—from power tools and workshop equipment to machinery and DIY solutions.
You’ll lead an established team and take full accountability for supplier strategy, cost optimisation, and performance—ensuring the business continues to deliver strong value, quality, and availability in a highly competitive market.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead, manage, and develop the Purchasing team
* Source new and innovative products aligned to customer demand and market trends
* Negotiate with global and domestic suppliers to secure best value across cost, quality, and service
* Take ownership of annual targets across cost, quality, delivery, and reliability
* Build and maintain a stable, cost-effective supply chain across a large and varied product catalogue
* Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and performance
* Develop and manage KPIs to measure success and drive continuous improvement
* Work cross-functionally, including supporting supplier-funded marketing initiatives
* Travel to suppliers as required, including occasional overnight stays
What We’re Looking For (Must-Haves)
* Proven experience in a Purchasing Manager or senior procurement role
* Experience within retail, wholesale, or a product-led environment (ideally tools, machinery, DIY, or similar categories)
* Strong negotiation skills with experience managing supplier relationships at scale
* Track record of delivering cost savings and improving supply chain performance
* Experience leading and developing teams
* Strong commercial awareness within a fast-moving, competitive product environment
* Ability to work with a wide product range and manage multiple categories
* Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills
* Willingness to travel as required
