The Cyber Security IT Engineer will evaluate security solution technologies and toolsets, develop security systems within the organization, and ensure data, network, and systems are protected from cyber threats while complying with relevant standards and regulations. You will also provide technical support to other security team professionals and partners.

The company is expanding its presence in Microsoft Azure and enhancing its on-prem OT Mission Critical Systems. It is important to develop a secure environment for hosting and managing our critical information assets. The role requires skills in cyber security solution design, implementation, operation, governance, change management, communications, and data protection using relevant encryption standards. Success is measured by maintaining regulatory compliance and improving the technical and organizational resilience against cyber threats.
* People: Work collaboratively in a team environment and with various internal and external stakeholders.
* Suppliers: Interact regularly with third-party service providers, technical consultants, and cyber security vendors.
* Communication: Convey technical cyber security concepts clearly across different levels of the organization to ensure understanding and informed decision-making.
* Stakeholders: Build and maintain collaborative relationships with internal and external technology teams, third-party providers, and partners to enhance outcomes and align on actions.
Principal accountabilities:
* Apply the highest safety standards across all responsibilities.
* Implement cyber security plans and technology roadmaps based on best practices, supporting UK Power Networks' Cyber Security Strategy and aligning with company values and goals.
* Research new security technologies, toolsets, and solutions for enterprise on-premises and cloud infrastructures.
* Collaborate with third-party vendors to design and implement proof-of-concept cyber security solutions, evaluating them against strict requirements and policies.
* Assess existing cyber security solutions to ensure they are fit for purpose, effective, and maximized for benefit and capability.
* Support the installation of cyber security products such as firewalls, endpoint protection, encryption, VPNs, SIEM, PAM, and VMs.
* Assist in root cause analysis of security incidents to prevent recurrence and enhance controls.
* Provide guidance and assurance on cyber security controls implementation within design principles.
* Establish and maintain relationships with partners to support security measures and improvements.
