Job Purpose
The Learning & Development function creates the right culture and environment by delivering high‑quality training initiatives that encourage personal growth and skill development for internal and external clients. The role provides learning professionals the chance to analyse, design, develop, and deliver high‑impact training interventions to meet organisational needs.
Responsibilities
* Act as a consultant to advise internal and external stakeholders on training needs.
* Contribute to regular training needs analyses (TNA) to identify skill gaps.
* Develop colleagues with the required skills, knowledge and attributes.
* Create individualised training plans to address identified needs.
* Design, develop, implement and evaluate training programmes aligned with business needs.
* Develop inclusive teaching strategies, materials, pathways and assessments.
* Produce training materials for new procedures and maintain a library of training resources.
* Conduct horizon scans of aviation/training sector developments to advocate best practice.
* Ensure training programmes meet theoretical knowledge, practical skills, awarding body and regulatory compliance.
* Deliver high‑quality learning experiences across all training programmes, accommodating various learning styles.
* Conduct assessments for employees completing internal training and formal qualifications.
* Support, assess and monitor delegates working towards qualifications.
* Review training effectiveness and identify improvement areas with the L&D Training Manager and stakeholders.
* Provide pastoral support to delegates and plan wrap‑around training support.
* Assist the L&D Training Manager with scheduling, organising and managing supplemental training.
* Train new or transferred employees on company paperwork procedures and customer documentation.
* Carry out examinations/assessments in line with awarding body procedures.
* Maintain accurate training records in compliance with GDPR, EASA, CAA, OFSTED, and other regulatory requirements.
* Assess training effectiveness through feedback, evaluations and performance metrics.
* Make improvements based on evaluation outcomes and emerging best practices.
* Comply with Storm Aviation Training Department standardisation/QA processes and maintain required documentation.
* Integrate safety management principles into training and implement safety factors in line with CAA/EASA regulations and company policies.
Qualifications, Experience and Knowledge
* At least two years' experience in a teaching/training role or a similar L&D role—preferably in aviation.
* Level 3 CTLLS (or above) or equivalent qualification.
* Level 5 CMI or L5 ILM Leadership & Management (or willing to obtain).
* Level 3 TAQA Assessing or equivalent (or willing to obtain).
* Level 4 IQA Internal Quality Assurance – desirable.
* Training qualifications provided by the company are subject to bonding agreement(s).
Skills and Abilities
* Self‑management and workload management.
* Ability to work at pace and remain flexible/agile.
* Design and develop training delivery materials, including SOWs, lesson plans, TNA, PowerPoints, handouts.
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
* Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
* Strong teaching, interpersonal and observational skills.
