1. Provide pharmacy input through comprehensive medication reviews for elderly inpatients, supporting safe and effective medicine use, reducing polypharmacy, and improving adherence and understanding.
2. Deliver ward-based clinical pharmacy services, support dispensary activities, and gain experience in supervising junior staff, quality improvement, and medicines safety initiatives.
3. Contribute to the development, delivery, and evaluation of pharmaceutical services for Divisional Teams and CSUs, aligning with legislation and departmental objectives.
4. Deputize for Principal Pharmacists at meetings and in training delivery within assigned areas.
5. Support ward-based services alongside other specialists, and mentor pharmacists, technicians, and trainees.
Milton Keynes University Hospital, in partnership with the University of Buckingham, is a teaching hospital committed to research and education, with a 'Good' CQC rating. We are expanding our facilities to meet growing community needs, including a new Radiotherapy Centre, Oak Wards, and a Women and Children’s Centre planned for 2030.
Our standard hours are four long days (8 am to 6:30 pm), with weekend and holiday rota coverage, and out-of-hours service participation after training.
We seek an enthusiastic, self-motivated pharmacist eager to improve elderly care, foster communication between primary and secondary care, and demonstrate leadership in medication safety and optimization.
