Calderdale Council Public Health Team is responsible for protecting and improving the health and wellbeing of Calderdale residents and communities and supporting partners in the NHS to deliver services that meet the needs of the population. Our priorities and ways of working are set out in Calderdale's multi-agency Health and Wellbeing Strategy. The majority of factors that influence people's health and wellbeing are social, economic and environmental, so multi-agency working is at the heart of the work we do. We work with colleagues in other parts of the Council; other public sector partners, including the NHS; the voluntary, community and faith sector; businesses and with residents.
Following an internal secondment we are seeking a Public Health Practitioner to provide temporary backfill to this role in the Adults and Older People's team within Public Health. The post holder will work across a number of areas in the team and contribute to the design, planning, commissioning, implementation and evaluation of multi-agency projects and programmes to achieve priority health and wellbeing outcomes and reduce health inequalities in Calderdale.
The successful candidate will be able to work within multi-agency partnerships through building and maintaining good relationships across the statutory, business, voluntary and community sectors. They will work beyond the public health team, involving partners, communities and people with lived experience in the design and delivery of public health projects.
They should have in-depth knowledge of how health is created and sustained and the determinants of health and health inequalities.
You must ensure you have your line managers approval before applying for a secondment opportunity.
We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults and expect all staff to share this commitment. Applicants to posts that are exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act will require a DBS from the Disclosure and Barring Service before the appointment is confirmed.
Closing Date:

*Interview Date:
