WMC RECRUITMENT is currently recruiting for a Deputy Manager to join an amazing team based in Boston PE21 7TF.
The candidate must have a LEVEL 3 Childcare qualification or above.
ROLES
1. Deputising in the absence of the Manager (this does not have to be office based) and maintaining the nursery diary.
2. Supporting the Manager with supervising staff, completing peer observations, observing children, room spot checks, planning & assessment checks, keeping staff files up to date, reviews, and official meetings.
3. Keeping up to date with new policies and legislation and disseminating information to staff.
4. Supporting the Manager in generating and maintaining daily routines, checks, and systems to ensure children's safety.
5. Role modeling and supporting staff with consistent behavior management expectations.
6. Supporting the Manager with marketing the setting, conducting showarounds, and updating social media.
7. Training and coaching staff and students, including supporting and conducting supervisions.
8. Maintaining a high standard of care daily, including the condition of the environment.
9. Sharing responsibility for safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, holding the Deputy DSL role, and completing relevant training.
10. Conducting staff meetings with the Manager and minuting the meetings.
11. Supporting the manager in disciplinary meetings, supervisions, and appraisals while maintaining confidentiality.
12. Supporting and covering staff as required.
13. Adhering to policies and procedures, working within the Early Years Foundation Stage, Child Protection Act, health and safety legislation, and Ofsted guidelines.
14. Working as part of a team, supporting staff and children, and leading by example.
15. Following the Nursery Manager's direction and supporting with daily routines, cleaning, and administrative tasks.
16. Planning for the room/age group, tracking assessments, dealing with issues, and passing on information from the manager.
17. If leading a room, managing key worker groups, learning journeys, and next steps.
18. Collaborating closely with the manager and other room leaders.
19. Interacting with children, supervising, keeping them safe and happy, and supporting teamwork, including cleaning and daily chores.
Main duties and responsibilities
As Deputy, you will safeguard and support the wellbeing of children, staff, and parents, following nursery policies and procedures. The role is predominantly room-based, delivering activities, planning engaging activities, conducting observations, and maintaining high standards. You will supervise staff, track nursery progress, liaise with parents, and participate in parent consultations.
You will assist with equipment preparation and maintenance, work closely with staff, and attend meetings with the manager and other leaders. The role may include helping with food preparation (requiring food safety qualification), assisting with toileting needs, changing nappies, feeding, and comforting children.
You will manage nursery staff, delegate tasks, allocate breaks, identify training needs, lead staff meetings, and ensure room ratios are maintained. Some office work will be allocated. When the manager is absent, you will be the main contact and a role model.
