Clerical Officer – Health Records
NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde is one of the largest healthcare systems in the UK, employing around 40,000 staff and delivering acute, primary, community and mental health care services to a population of over 1.15 million. We are looking for a Clerical Officer to support effective clinical care by providing an efficient Health Records service to patients, medical and nursing staff.
Post Details
* Post 1 – 6 week rolling night‑shift rota: 13.5 hours per week
* Post 2 – Mon‑Wed & Friday 17:00‑23:00; Thu 16:00‑22:00: 30 hours per week
* Post 3 – Fri 17:00‑21:00 & Sat 21:00‑08:30: 15.5 hours per week
This is a permanent, part‑time role based in QEUH, but it is a GGC‑wide post and can be moved to any location within the network. The role may close sooner than advertised.
Responsibilities
* Provide administrative, clerical and receptionist support to ensure effective clinical care.
* Maintain electronic and paper‑based patient record systems, ensuring confidentiality and accuracy.
* Administer and process patient appointments for outpatient clinics, day cases and inpatient admissions.
* Keep patient demographic and administrative data continually updated through the patient management system.
* Ensure all health records remain confidential, securely stored and readily available when required.
Qualifications and Experience
* National 4 or Level 1 qualification in three subjects, including English or equivalent.
* General administration and office experience; prior clerical experience desirable.
* Computer literate with good keyboard skills.
* Previous reception experience desirable.
* Prior experience using a Patient Management System is desirable; training will be provided.
