Full-Time (1.0 FTE) Fixed term post – 2 years (January 2025 to December 2026)
We are looking for a passionate Lecturer to join our Social Work Team. You will be part of the successful School of Psychology, Social Work, and Public Health and have the opportunity to work alongside experienced Social Work Lecturers and colleagues from other disciplines in the School. The students and staff are from diverse backgrounds, and we value collaboration and staff development. There are three qualifying Social Work programmes at Oxford Brookes University (BA (Hons), PG Diploma, and MA), validated by Social Work England. This post will focus on practice learning, including leading placement modules, matching students to placements, and supporting placement preparation and practice skill development.
The post is at Lecturer level, Grade 9 on the Oxford Brookes pay scale. Pay scale details.
Applicants are usually appointed at the bottom of the pay scale unless they can demonstrate skills or experience that are commensurate with a higher spine point.
Overall purpose of the post:
* To deliver high-quality Social Work education to prepare students for employment
* To work with Social Work agencies and settings, and stakeholders, to provide positive practice-based experiences for students
* To develop teaching and learning approaches to meet the diverse academic needs of students
* To provide academic and pastoral support and guidance for students on placement, in collaboration with practice educators
Qualifications required:
Applicants should hold a qualification in Social Work or a related discipline and be registered with Social Work England.
You will also be required to undertake an enhanced disclosure check by the Disclosure and Barring Service. This will be a condition of employment.
Experience required:
* Experience supporting Social Work students in practice learning settings
* Excellent organisational skills
* Ability to use information technology to support and guide students and stakeholders effectively
* Excellent networking abilities
* Current subject knowledge relevant to a pre-qualifying Social Work curriculum
