About This Opportunity
We’re appointing a Qualified Teacher of Blind/ Vision Impaired children and young people (QTVI) to cover a one‑year maternity leave at Cumberland Council’s Sensory Impairment Team. The role is full‑time, fixed‑term (12 months) with a main teachers’ scale salary plus SEN2 and UPS points. Hours are 37 per week. The base location can be either Carlisle or Workington with flexibility for office work. The successful candidate will work as part of an established multidisciplinary team (QTVI, QToD and higher‑level teaching assistants) and provide peripatetic support to children and young people from preschool to post‑16, schools, settings and families. The role requires excellent communication skills, a commitment to inclusive education and a willingness to continue learning new skills.
Responsibilities
* Provide peripatetic support to BVI children and young people and associated schools, settings and families.
* Support children across age ranges from preschool to post‑16.
* Collaborate with other professionals within the Sensory Impairment Team and external partners.
Qualifications
* Qualified Teacher of Blind/Vision Impaired children and young people (QTVI).
* Experience working with BVI children or young people.
* Capability to work across the full age range from preschool to post‑16.
* Excellent communication and organisational skills.
* Commitment to inclusive education.
