We have a new and exciting opportunity to join our existing Engineering Team as a Junior Network Engineer, working on a secure project at our Farnborough, Hampshire site, 5 days per week, Mon to Fri ( no weekends), and possible occasional travel to other UK sites. This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking for an entry role into a Network Engineering environment. Full training, hands-on experience, support, guidance and development will be provided to enable the successful candidate to work towards a professional accreditation and enhance their IT Engineering career. Whilst previous experience is not essential, an interest and understanding of IT Network Systems / Technology would be beneficial. The role may include short periods of lone working, manual handling, carrying equipment up and down flights of stairs and working at height or in confined spaces and all applicants should be comfortable in each of these environments. Due to the nature and security of the project, you will be required full-time on site (37hrs p/w), and you must be eligible to obtain, and retain, National Security Clearance via the United Kingdom Security Vetting Office. (See www.gov.uk for criteria). Ideally, you will already hold DV, or SC, however, we will consider candidates without who meet the eligibility criteria. Responsibilities Assisting with basic engineering tasks, and shadowing Senior Engineers Studying and working towards professional Engineering qualifications Providing bespoke reporting upon request Managing and maintaining the resilient items list Commissioning and decommissioning hardware/software Installing and removing software licences Fitting cables, PAT testing- training and tech support Carrying out other tasks when requested by the Programme Managers Skills & Requirements Essential: A willingness to undergo a full assessment process to obtain Government Security Clearance The desire to work in a hands-on IT role in a secure operational environment. Experience or a deep interest in IT Systems and/or Technology Capable and comfortable working independently Desirable: Able to provide written and verbal updates, progress reports and escalate issues to stakeholders at all levels. Good communication skills with the ability to identify relevant information and describe technical issues clearly and concisely. Adept at following procedures methodically and accurately Possess the ability and desire to maintain a safe, tidy, and organised working environment.
