Community Student Support and Investigating Officer
This is an exciting new role within the professional support team, within the Office of the Dean of Students. The postholder will be recognised as one of the main contacts for student investigations for Non-Academic Misconduct including sexual misconduct, harassment and bullying complaints.
The Community Student Support and Investigating Officer is an integral part of the student experience promoting positive, healthy and safe living in the local community. The post holder will work collaboratively with partners, internally and externally to maintain a harmonious relationship between the University and local community.
Job Responsibility:
The postholder will be responsible for building and maintaining relationships with key stakeholders, both internally and externally, to help continually improve services. They will work collaboratively with relevant professional services, academics and external partners when needed, using an evidence-based approach, focusing on the best possible outcome for students.
* Respond to and investigate complaints from students and about students in a timely manner, monitoring all reports, and ensuring all actions are recorded on the relevant Reporting Systems.
* Comply with Safeguarding responsibilities and procedures and escalate any safeguarding or complex welfare concerns that are identified.
* Sit on university disciplinary hearings and Support to Study meetings/hearings, ensuring that all relevant background information is gathered prior to meetings.
* Help with the provision of Housing events and have relevant communications with students to ensure they are aware of how to secure safe/secure accommodation in the Private Rented Sector.
Skills and Experience Needed:
The ideal candidate should be able to maintain the highest standards of professionalism at all times and promote equality and diversity for student and staff in accordance with university policies. They should have a good knowledge of Higher Education and keep up to date with current developments which are relevant to the Community team.
* Degree or equivalent and proven relevant professional experience.
* Safeguarding Level One.
* Excellent writing and communication skills with proven advanced digital capability, experience in social media would be beneficial.
