Overview
FM Assistant (Domestic Services) – Band 2 – £12.51 per hour (£24,465 per annum pro rata) at Saffron Walden Community Hospital. 10 hours per week. Working Saturday and Sunday every week. Shift pattern either 07:30-13:30 or 08:00-13:00. This post includes Unsocial Hours Payments: Saturday - Time plus 41% of the salary; Sunday - Time plus 83% of the salary.

Responsibilities
To participate in the provision of in-house FM services to a specified area within the Trust, which may include in-patient wards, admin/clinical areas and retail outlets. The FM services include cleaning, catering, portering, bed making and laundering services; some services may be unit specific. You will be responsible for maintaining a clean and hygienic environment for patients, Trust staff and visitors in line with the National Standards of Cleanliness. You are expected to have a flexible approach, excellent interpersonal and customer skills, and the ability to use initiative to prioritise and organise duties.
Main duties of the job
* Domestic Service including Rapid Response (CAT): undertakes vacuuming, sweeping, scrubbing and mopping floors; high/low dusting; cleaning surfaces, mirrors, furniture, bins, toilets, sinks, baths and showers; cleaning cookers, ovens, fridges/freezers (defrosting regularly), microwaves; restocking consumables; descaling taps and replacing bin liners.
* Report to the supervisor any problems affecting the ability to clean (e.g., issues with floor coverings or surfaces).
* Ensure correct colour coded equipment is used; keep equipment clean, safe and tidy.
* Operate machinery safely, report faults promptly, and use equipment only for its intended tasks; follow safety signs and circuit breakers where appropriate.
* Dispose/segregate recyclables and general/clinical waste in accordance with Trust policy.
