This challenging and exciting Bid Manager opportunity requires an individual with a strong technical background and demonstrable experience in taking responsibility for producing bids, estimates and tenders within the piling, foundations or ground engineering sector. The position includes some working from home, with 2–3 days in the office required over the course of the week.
The Role
* Understand and deliver the client’s requirements and liaise with designers, clients and main contractors to optimize the best engineering solution.
* Select appropriate piling technique for project ground conditions.
* Conduct geotechnical analysis using in-house and commercially available software, prepare reports, and respond to technical queries during approval.
* Cost, budget, tender, bid, negotiate and secure orders for a variety of contracts.
* Prepare settlement packs for review by the business at meetings.
* Prepare contract tender documents, specifications and schedules.
* Manage risk including health & safety, geotechnical and commercial aspects.
* Liaise and support the operation team during the installation phase.
* Produce as‑built documentation post‑construction.
* Develop long‑lasting relationships with clients to encourage repeat business.
* Coordinate and respond to client requests utilizing experience from colleagues.
* Collaborate with other group business units to achieve shared goals.
* Continue professional development.
The Person
* Eligible to work in the UK with a valid work permit.
* Ability to produce piling bids, estimates and tenders using appropriate software packages.
* Experience pricing piling enquiries.
* Ability to work independently, often from home, and communicate technical matters clearly in writing and verbally.
* Enthusiastic, results‑focused, able to work well under pressure and meet challenging deadlines.
* Effective negotiation skills with internal and external clients and teams.
