Job Summary
The Oxford Sleep and Ventilation Service is a tertiary centre of excellence caring for around 20,000 CPAP patients and an estimated 1,500 non‑invasive ventilation, tracheostomy and cough augmentation patients. The multidisciplinary team includes Nurses, Physiologists, Physiotherapists and Clinical Support Workers, operating under Consultant oversight. We are recruiting a 0.6 WTE Lead Specialist Physiotherapist to deliver safe, effective and compassionate care.
Key Responsibilities
* Use expert clinical knowledge and judgement to lead the team in delivering high‑quality care.
* Monitor and maintain standards of care and report to the Directorate.
* Ensure continuity of care and evaluate effectiveness with patients and/or carers, making adjustments as required.
* Work across professional, organisational, and system boundaries to develop partnerships and networks that improve health outcomes.
* Manage human, financial, material and information resources effectively.
* Lead at a clinical practice level, influencing and directing the multidisciplinary team.
* Provide clinical support in out‑patients, in‑patients and domiciliary settings.
* Apply expert judgement and accept accountability for standards of care.
* Use advanced evidence‑based interventions and manage complex care events.
* Coordinate the assessment, planning, delivery, and evaluation of holistic patient needs.
* Maintain high‑standard communication, including sensitive and complex information, to foster partnership working.
* Maintain accurate clinical documentation and ensure patient journey and incident management systems are effective.
* Collaborate with the team to develop shared vision, documentation, pathways, protocols, and guidelines.
* Lead team development and continuous improvement, managing the unit budget and applying change‑management skills.
* Participate in the selection, appraisal, and professional development of team members.
* Ensure team maintains clinical competence, statutory training, and involvement in multidisciplinary meetings.
* Support educational activities: advance personal knowledge, provide mentorship, coaching, preceptorship, and organise study days.
* Coordinate service review, evaluate practice against evidence, identify risks, and engage in peer review to uphold quality and governance.
