Service Technician
to join a busy engineering workshop in East Staffordshire. This role involves inspecting, repairing, and testing specialist electrical equipment used in power testing applications across sectors like energy, marine, utilities, and data centres. About the Role:
You'll be working on high-performance testequipment designed to simulate electrical loads for testing generators, UPS systems, and other critical infrastructure. These systems range from compact resistive units to large containerised reactive setups, offering a technically varied and rewarding workload. Key Responsibilities:
Electrical and mechanical inspection of customer equipment
Reading and interpreting electrical schematics
Using multimeters to measure and record values
Completing electronic test documentation and communicating findings
Performing wiring repairs, modifications, and mechanical fixes
Re-testing and documenting results post-repair
Soldering cable and controller assemblies
Producing detailed customer reports
Additional Duties:
Supporting on-site repair work during peak periods
Assisting with packing and parts preparation in the workshop
What We're Looking For:
Solid understanding of electrical circuits and wiring standards
Ability to read and interpret technical drawings
Comfortable working independently and managing varied tasks
Detail-oriented, proactive, and professional in approach
Hours
Monday to Friday, 07:00–16:00 (40 hours/week)
Overtime available, including weekend mornings
Competitive hourly rate based on experience
