First Military Recruitment is working in partnership with our reputable client who is seeking a Product Safety Engineer to join their team in Denham, Middlesex.
This is an exciting opportunity that will give you a chance to promote proactive Safety Management and improve the safety culture. The successful candidate will play an important role in the continual improvement of the Safety Management System and ensuring safety objectives are achieved with respect to just culture, safety risk management, safety assurance, and safety promotion. You will support activities required in identifying and assessing issues and potential hazards that may affect product safety to ensure in-service products remain safe.
Duties and Responsibilities:
* Supporting key safety-critical Incident & Error Report investigations.
* Identifying impact and establishing root causes of investigations.
* Identifying opportunities for continual improvement in MBA products and processes.
* Ensuring product safety through independent design assurance activities.
* Supporting activities to promote just culture, hazard reporting, hazard identification, risk assessment, and mitigation.
* Participating in problem-solving activities to effectively identify root causes and corrective actions.
* Reviewing outputs of defect, error, incident, and continuous improvement reports to identify potential safety hazards, and implementing actions to prevent recurrence and improve safety assurance.
* Completing reviews of plans, documents, and data thoroughly and in a timely manner.
* Employing robust decision-making and problem-solving techniques across all parts of the product lifecycle.
* Establishing and maintaining product safety preventative action policies and proposing improvements to company procedures.
* Ensuring the design organization complies with an appropriate design assurance and verification program plan, recognizing the levels of rigor and independence required by the certifying authority based on equipment complexity.
* Compiling lessons learned reports and proposing preventative actions to enhance the product portfolio.
* Proactively identifying risks and opportunities related to regulatory changes, airworthiness codes, or guidance materials to maintain compliance without disruption.
* Managing relationships with customers, suppliers, and industry in the field of product safety.
* Undertaking any other duties necessary to maintain or improve safety, efficiency, quality, and service in the Engineering Department.
Skills, Experience, and Qualifications:
* Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Science, or a related technical field.
* Experience in establishing Safety Management Systems or elements responsible for safety risk management, assurance, and promotion.
* Substantial experience with problem-solving or investigative tools and 8D techniques such as 5Y, 5W2H, Fishbone diagrams, etc.
* Good understanding of modern manufacturing methods and processes.
* Knowledge of materials and processes used in the aerospace sector or equivalent.
* Proficiency in MS Office.
