Position: SEN Teaching Assistant
Location: Secondary School, Denton, Manchester
Hours: Full time. 8:15am - 4:30pm, Monday to Friday.
Start Date: September 2025
Contract Type: Full-time, Temporary (with potential for permanent)
Salary: VERY Competitive - Dependent on experience
Are you passionate about supporting students with Special Educational Needs (SEN) and helping them achieve their full potential?
Aspire People is seeking an experienced and dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to support students across Maths, English, and Science at a Secondary School in Denton, Manchester. The ideal candidate will be capable of supporting students from Year 7 through GCSE, helping them reach their full potential in core subjects, with a good knowledge of the curriculum.
The pupils you'll support have diverse needs, including ASC, ADHD, Dyslexia, Dyscalculia, SEMH, and behavioral challenges. Your role is vital in helping these students access the curriculum, build confidence, and make progress.
Key Responsibilities:
* Provide 1:1 support to students with SEN in Maths, English, and Science.
* Assist in delivering tailored lesson plans and adapting materials for students with various needs.
* Support student engagement, confidence, and academic progress.
* Help students develop independence and self-regulation skills.
* Monitor and report on student progress to staff and leaders.
* Support classroom management to ensure an inclusive environment, especially for students with behavioral issues.
* Participate in training sessions to improve your skills in supporting diverse learners.
Essential Skills & Qualifications:
* Experience working with SEN students in secondary schools.
* Strong knowledge of Maths, English, and Science up to GCSE level.
* Experience supporting students with ASC, ADHD, Dyslexia, Dyscalculia, SEMH, and behavioral challenges.
* Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
* Patience, empathy, and a proactive attitude.
* A Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification (preferred but not essential).
* Knowledge of all three core subjects up to GCSE is vital; an A Level in one is desirable.
* Commitment to inclusive education.
Desirable Attributes:
* Experience with individual education plans (IEPs).
* Confidence with ICT tools, including interactive whiteboards and educational software.
* Experience with de-escalation techniques and behavioral support.
