PLEASE READ BEFORE APPLYING: Recognising the RESTRICTED nature of the work suitable candidates will be baseline level (BPSS) clearable or eligible for this level of clearance Job Summary: Our client GKN Aerospace (https:///) are looking to recruit several Composite Operators to be based at their site in Severn Beach (postcode is BS35 4GG) the role will involve the manufacture of aircraft components from composite materials which meet design and engineering requirement The requirement involves working with Automated Fabre Placement (AFP) machines within the facilities clean room Rates: £21.62 p/hour, any Weekday Overtime pays £24.57 p/hour, any Weekend Overtime pays £32.76 p/hour Hours: see below for further details on 4 week working Rotation Key Responsibilities: Manufacture aircraft components from carbon and glass fibre pre-preg materials Use processing equipment to lay-up and cure composite wing spars and test pieces Use forming presses, drape machines, vacuum presses, automated tape lay and fibre placement machines, laser projection equipment, autoclaves and ovens to manufacture and cure composite spars Prepare and clean mandrels and cure tooling for manufacture of composite spars Participate fully in local continuous improvement activities Work in line with Health & Safety site requirements Qualifications/Skills: Ability to operate CNC machines and processes Experience of assembling and manufacturing production components using drawings and processes Experience in a manual handling work environment Ability to assemble and trim composite and ancillary materials to close tolerances Good hand skills and co-ordination Understand aircraft drawings, limits and quality systems Knowledge of composite bonding and assembly techniques using pre-preg materials Self-motivation with good communication and interpersonal skills Ability to work both alone and in small teams Ability and willingness to undertake training and understanding of composite manufacturing techniques and processes To take responsibility to “self-certify” own work Hours: 4 week working Rotation pattern as follows: Thursday Day 1 Night 19:00 - 07:00 Friday Day 2 Night 19:00 - 07:00 Saturday Day 3 Night 19:00 - 07:00 Sunday Day 4 Night 19.00 – 07.00 Monday Day 5 Off Tuesday Day 6 Off Wednesday Day 7 Day 07:00 - 19:00 Thursday Day 8 Day 07:00 - 19:00 Friday Day 9 Day 07:00 - 19:00 Saturday Day 10 Off Sunday Day 11 Off Monday Day 12 Night 19:00 - 07:00 Tuesday Day 13 Night 19:00 - 07:00 Wednesday Day 14 Night 19:00 - 07:00 Thursday Day 15 Off Friday Day 16 Off Saturday Day 17 Day 07:00 - 19:00 Sunday Day 18 Day 07:00 - 19:00 Monday Day 19 Day 07:00 - 19:00 Tuesday Day 20 Day 07:00 - 19:00 Wednesday Day 21 Off Thursday Day 22 Off Friday Day 23 Off Saturday Day 24 Off Sunday Day 25 Off Monday Day 26 Off Tuesday Day 27 Off Wednesday Day 28 Off
