Glascoed – South Wales.
2 days on site minimum – so some hybrid option but Full Time for the first 2 months to become confident.
Key skills – E-Fuse team, Experience in electrical or Electronic backgrounds, Mechanical experience.
Small complex electrical systems.
Looking at 5+ years exp but if someone with less that looks good they will consider.
Need to be able to produce Technical reports is a must.
Product Experience, Full Cycle.
Candidates must have a British Passport and ideally MOD EXPERIENCE, with SC Clearance in the past.
Job Description
Would you like to join a multi-disciplined engineering team involved in the development, manufacture and testing of a number of new products? Our Client MOD related is currently has vacancies for Product Development Engineers in the Future Programmes team, to support the design and development of advanced munitions products at our Glascoed site in South Wales.
As a Product Development Engineer, you will be responsible for technical aspects of your respective programmes. Projects will cover all phases of a product’s lifecycle: concepts, development, testing, qualification, production and in service support. You will work with a team of engineers to deliver a variety of project goals, depending on project size and complexity. This diverse role will provide you with the opportunity to engage with many different engineering disciplines, as well as gaining a wealth of experience in this area. There will also be opportunities to engage with many other functions within a further wide range of projects.
The position will be based primarily at Glascoed, Monmouthshire, however, occasional travel to other manufacturing and test/evaluation sites will be necessary.
Responsibilities
Assisting product development and systems engineering activities for new products
Coordination of product development and related engineering activities
Configuration and maintenance of Engineering bills of materials for products
Product development and evaluation e.g. Pugh Matrices, Fault Tree Analysis, Design Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (DFMEA)
Manufacture, test and evaluation of munitions products
Conducting and managing trials in a safe and suitable manner - from the trials planning stage to completion of the trial and presentation of the data
Development and use safe systems of work
Development of quality systems
Management of stakeholders, both internal and external, to ensure that development activities are completed to time and schedule
Contribution to the Life Cycle Management Process where required
Contribution to the Risk Management process
Liaise with customers as demanded
Working as part of an integrated project team, with regular engagement across other functions; including project management, procurement (supply chain) and commercial
Competencies, Skills and Qualifications
Essential
Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering (or similar Engineering discipline)
Available for immediate start
Applicants must be able to demonstrate a proven capability in development projects, in particular system integration
Proven ability to take ownership, prioritise and deliver product Engineering tasks within development projects to ensure completion within agreed timescales and to required standard
Ability to produce high quality technical reports
A good working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite and strong IT skills
A good understanding of project/risk management and the ability to use associated tools and techniques
Ability to read and understand engineering drawings and models
Desirable
Master’s Degree in Mechanical, Electrical or Electronic Engineering with proof of experience in developing complex electro-mechanical systems
Minimum 5 Years product development experience in the Engineering industry
Chartered Engineer or Membership with appropriate Engineering Institution
Knowledge and experience of munition design and manufacture
Experience of product test and evaluation activities
Familiarity with the Life Cycle Management (LCM) process
A working knowledge of Systems Engineering and Engineering design
Working knowledge of Risk Management
Awareness of relevant manufacturing technologies and processes
Current valid UK Security Clearance to SC level or higher
