An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and motivated Senior Diabetes Dietitian to join the Nutrition & Dietetic team in Jersey. The post holder will contribute in the development of the diabetes service and work operationally within the Diabetes Centre. The Senior Diabetes Dietitian will provide dietary advice and support to people with type 1 or type 2 diabetes attending specialist outpatient clinics, and gestational diabetes. There will also be opportunities to work with the diabetes team and deliver group diabetes education sessions in the community. You will be joining a supportive Dietetic team, as well as working as part of the Diabetes MDT alongside consultants, specialist nurses and podiatrists. We are looking for a passionate and innovative dietitian who is keen to share and develop their clinical knowledge that they have acquired in relation to diabetes. Main duties of the job Professionally and legally responsible for a caseload of patients, with clinical supervision from senior clinicians. Undertake comprehensive and holistic nutritional assessments, and initiate treatment/management plans for adult patients with diabetes. To interpret medical, biochemical and pharmacological information, and incorporate into dietetic plans as appropriate. Participate in one to one dietetic counselling, group education to patients as well as group education to staff. About us Jersey is the largest Island of the Channel Islands. Job responsibilities To work as a senior dietitian, providing evidence-based nutritional information and support to adults with type 1 and type 2 diabetes across primary and secondary care. To plan and implement highly specialised assessment, evaluation, treatment and management of patients with complex needs. To facilitate, manage and provide learning opportunities and education to HCS professionals and the wider community on the nutritional management of adults with type 1 and type 2 diabetes and participate in evidence-based service development with support from senior clinicians. To participate in audit activity and service evaluation, with support from senior clinicians, within area of Diabetes to support Nutrition & Dietetic service with future strategy work. Person Specification Experience Essential • Experience of working as a general or junior dietitian, across a variety of clinical settings and specialities. • Demonstrates understanding and experience in the ethical and moral dimensions of practice. • Experience of working effectively within a multidisciplinary team. Desirable • Experience of research or audit. • Experience in teaching and training other healthcare providers. • Experience of dietetic student training. Qualifications Essential • BSc Hons Degree in Human Nutrition and Dietetics or Postgraduate Diploma/ MSc in Human Nutrition and Dietetics. • Registration with the Health Care Professions • Council (HCPC) and British Dietetic Association (BDA). • Evidence of Continuing Professional Development • Able to communicate patient related information effectively and efficiently to patients, team members, relatives and other service providers through written and verbal communication in line with professional, legal and local requirements. Desirable • Accredited post-registration training in relevant areas. • Membership to BDA • Specialist Interest group. • Demonstrates knowledge of legislation relevant to specialist area.
