At FloPlast Ltd we design and manufacture a range of specialist plastic building and plumbing systems used widely in UK construction industry.
As Production Leading Hand, you will work closely with the Team Leader, supporting them to ensure your shift runs smoothly and production targets are met. It is expected that you will be able to step up to fulfil key elements of the Team Leader role in their absence. You will lead by example and have a "hands on approach", supervising the staff on shift to ensure the smooth operation of the department, and that the production schedule is completed as required.
Applicants must have previous experience within a supervisory capacity and experience within manufacturing.
Hours of work are Monday to Friday 7am to 3pm / 3pm to 11pm on a weekly rotational basis - 40 hours per week (8 hours a day including 30 minutes of paid break).
Starting salary of £29,099 increasing to £32,198 upon successful completion of a 6-month probationary period. This is inclusive of a rotational shift premium.
Key roles and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
* Always ensure effective and most efficient use of labour on your shift to ensure the production schedule is completed as required.
* Supervise staff to ensure the smooth operation of the department, ensuring that staff under your report complete their duties safely & efficiently.
* Stagger, monitor and control allocated breaks for staff throughout shifts.
* Maintain discipline within the team and escalate any disciplinary matters to the Team Leader.
* Monitor the output from the Injection Moulding machines and work with the QC department to ensure that product is in line with the required standard.
* Ensure that all Injection Moulding machines are maintained and in operation during your shift, unless informed otherwise.
* Work with the Production Maintenance Engineers to ensure the smooth operation and maintenance of the Injection Moulding machines.
* Resolve product quality issues efficiently and effectively.
* Ensure that the correct declarations are being used on Barco.
* To have a flexible approach to the job and be willing to cover for other Production Leading Hands when required.
* Use the Counterbalance Forklift Truck (subject to certified training).
What skills / qualifications do I need?
* You'll have proven supervisory experience.
* You'll have previously worked within a manufacturing environment.
* You'll enjoy working in a busy environment where you can roll your sleeves up and get hands-on.
* You'll be flexible and able to adapt to the different tasks and daily priorities in the factory which help us run efficiently.
* Safety is our biggest priority, so you'll be committed to safe working and have good general safety awareness.
You'll also have:
* Good literacy and understanding of English (written and verbal) – as you'll need to read technical data sheets and train new operatives.
