Overview
The Senior Director, Direct-to-Patient (DTP) Team Lead will be responsible for establishing and maintaining a leadership position for Blueprint Medicines, a Sanofi Company, among the patient and caregiver community living with systemic mastocytosis (SM). Your strategic vision will ensure holistic patient and caregiver engagement strategies, including patient marketing initiatives for SM and AYVAKIT (avapritinib), a potential multi-billion opportunity. Working collaboratively with cross-functional partners, you will represent the Voice of the Patient and drive patient engagement strategies that reinforce our Patient First mindset.
AYVAKIT’s ongoing launch into Indolent Systemic Mastocytosis (ISM) provides a unique opportunity to build a new market and reach a patient community that had no therapeutic option until now that treats the underlying driver of disease. While ISM is a rare disease, it is extremely underdiagnosed with about 9 years average time to diagnosis after seeing several types of medical specialists.
What will you do?
* Lead the US AYVAKIT patient marketing team, develop an industry-leading DTP team passionate about patient marketing. Provide strategic guidance and mentorship to deliver impactful campaigns and initiatives.
* Provide leadership to Blueprint Medicines and brand teams to enable development, alignment and execution of patient strategy across the organization.
* Spearhead cross-functional collaboration and alignment to ensure patient strategies are integrated across Blueprint Medicines, including leading the broader patient connect team across the organization.
* Collect actionable patient insights to understand the SM landscape, identify emergent needs of SM patients and caregivers, and share insights cross-functionally.
* Guide the development and execution of core patient-facing initiatives, including disease awareness campaigns, AYVAKIT campaign updates, digital/print media, conferences, and non-personal tactics.
* Provide strategic oversight for the Patient Ambassador Program (unbranded and branded), including programming strategy, goals and KPIs.
* Lead the evolution of digital marketing capabilities (in collaboration with commercial operations) to enable multichannel promotion campaigns.
* Accountable for the patient-focused brand plan, proposing programs and capabilities needed to support the strategy and championing the plan with cross-functional partners.
* Collaborate with legal, regulatory, and compliance stakeholders to ensure compliant development and execution of educational programming.
Minimum qualifications
* BA/BS degree required; advanced degree (MBA or equivalent) preferred.
* Minimum of 12+ years of experience in strategic roles within the biotech/pharmaceutical industry, including direct involvement in marketing, sales, or market development.
* Previous in-line marketing experience with core focus on patient strategy, franchise management, and cross-functional leadership.
* Required travel: Up to 25%.
Additional qualifications
* Deep experience developing patient engagement strategies for pharmaceutical or biotech products in the US.
* Demonstrated ability to work effectively on cross-functional matrix teams, leading without authority.
* Expertise with omnichannel, media planning, and integrated promotion with emphasis on digital and social media strategy.
* Experience working on launch products where Direct-to-Patient is central to brand success.
* Experience in rare disease, oncology and/or new markets preferred.
* Strong project management and vendor management experience.
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
* Proven ability to influence without authority and work with cross-functional teams in developing and delivering brand strategy imperatives.
* A team player with enterprise view, ability to gain consensus rapidly and act independently in a fast-paced environment.
* Versatility, internal drive, and curiosity to take on new challenges.
