These posts are offered on a full time (10 PA) or part time (PAs to beagreed with successful applicant(s)) basis. A total number of 16.5 PAsare available.

Wewould like to appoint two enthusiastic and motivated pathologists to join ourexisting hard-working team, currently comprising 12 highly supportiveConsultant Histopathologists in a general department which offers excellentopportunities to develop professionally. These two positions representreplacement and new posts on a background of recent retirement and increasingworkload.

Youwill be joining a team of consultants currently covering 11.1 WTE posts with acombination of full time and less than full time positions. Within this, aflexible working policy is considered to be an integral part of our teamapproach. Our flexible working optionsinclude hybrid remote (home) working and established digital reporting.

Applicants must possess FRCPath or equivalentand have a broad experience in Histopathology (including being within 6 monthsof their CCT if in a UK-based Histopathology training scheme at the time of theadvisory appointments committee).


Main duties of the job

Histopathologysurgical specimen cut up and reporting.

Non-gynaecologicalcytology reporting (no gynaecological cytology is undertaken).

Jointlead in one or more multi-disciplinary specialties (MDTs supported includeBreast, Upper and Lower Gastrointestinal, Skin, Gynae, Urology, Head &Neck, Colposcopy, Cancer of Unknown Primary, and Lung).

Administrativeduties, for which appropriate office space and secretarial support is provided.

SupportingProfessional Activities in accordance with the Trust Framework, with a minimumof 1.5 SPAs included. Additional SPA or DCC time may be commissioned in linewith the skills of the successful candidate and changing requirements of theservice.

Noon-call commitments.

Job responsibilities

Theseposts are offered on a full time (10 PA) basis, although less than full timeapplications will be considered. Duties will be based primarily on our Dewsburysite although all our medical staff are involved in delivering care to patientson all our sites.

Themain duties of the post will include

Histopathologysurgical specimen cut up and reporting.

Non-gynaecologicalcytology reporting (no gynaecological cytology is undertaken).

Jointlead in one or more multi-disciplinary specialties (MDTs supported includeBreast, Upper and Lower Gastrointestinal, Skin, Gynae, Urology, Head &Neck, Colposcopy, Cancer of Unknown Primary, and Lung).

Optionto join the 8-member rota for autopsy provision for HM Coroner (West YorkshireEastern District).

Administrativeduties, for which appropriate office space and secretarial support is provided.

SupportingProfessional Activities in accordance with the Trust Framework, with a minimumof 1.5 SPAs included. Additional SPA or DCC time may be commissioned in linewith the skills of the successful candidate and changing requirements of theservice.

Noon-call commitments.

The appointment will be on the basis of the new consultant contract laiddown by the Hospital Medical and Dental Staff Terms and Conditions of Serviceand will be remunerated as appropriate on the salary scale £105,504 - £139,882 per annum.

Person Specification


GMC Registration

* Please state full GMC number
* Full and Specialist registration (and with a licence to practise) with the General Medical Council (GMC), or be eligible for registration within six months of interview.
* Applicants that are UK trained, must ALSO be a holder of a Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT), or be within six months of award of CCT by date of interview.
* Applicants that are non-UK trained, will be required to show evidence of equivalence to the UK CCT


Experience

* Sufficient experience at the senior level to be placed on the Specialist Register
* Participation in EQA and CPD schemes
* Evidence of thorough and broad training and experience in Histopathology and Non-gynae cytology
* Able to take responsibility for delivering service without direct supervision
* Evidence of participation in clinical audit and understanding the role of audit in improving medical practice
* Understanding of clinical risk management and clinical governance
* Understanding of quality improvement activity
* Participation in coronial autopsy service


Management Skills

* Demonstrates intelligent and analytical approach to problem solving
* Good time management
* Possesses good organisational skills
* Previous management experience, courses attended or qualifications


Qualifications

* Medical Degree from recognised medical school
* FRCPath or show evidence of equivalent qualification
* Medical School Prizes
* Audit or Case Presentations
* Teaching qualification/prize
* Additional academic qualifications
