Overview
The Ward housekeeper will work as an essential part of the ward team under the direction/guidance of the Clinical Matron or their nominated deputy. The focus of the role is to support the nursing team with non-clinical tasks, coordinate the provision of meals and help maintain a safe, clean, comfortable environment for patients, ensuring the smooth day-to-day running of the ward.

Responsibilities
* Be courteous and helpful to patients, families, colleagues and all users and visitors to the ward.
* Welcome patients to the ward in a friendly, professional manner.
* Orientate patients and their families to the ward and hospital where necessary.
* Provide accurate and timely information to patients regarding ward routines (visiting times, meal times).
* Provide additional refreshments to patients and families where appropriate.
* Answer the telephone and make calls to patients regarding admission or cancellation as directed by the nurse in charge.
* Support the ward team with underlying tasks to enhance patient care (e.g., collection of laundry, pharmacy, etc.).
* Ensure the bed space is prepared for new admissions (cleanliness, rubbish removal, etc.).
* Alert the nurse in charge to any aspects of patient dissatisfaction or complaints.
* Provide assistance to patients using the telephone.
* Support completion of Friends and Family cards on discharge.
* Check drug fridge temperature daily and record the reading.
* Coordinate or assist with the provision of meals and non-clinical tasks to support ward operations.
