Join Southern Housing as a Rent Accounting Officer
Are you passionate about precision and committed to delivering exceptional service? At Southern Housing, we’re looking for a Rent Accounting Officer to ensure the accuracy and integrity of tenancy-related financial transactions. In this pivotal role, you’ll manage the setup and maintenance of rent accounts, process and reconcile payments, and proactively resolve discrepancies. Your attention to detail and collaborative approach will help us deliver a seamless rent accounting operation and a positive experience for our residents.
Based at our Sittingbourne office, you’ll enjoy the flexibility of hybrid working, with at least two days per week in the office and occasional travel to other locations for stakeholder meetings. What you’ll be doing
1. Execute routine delegated financial management and accounting procedures with precision and integrity.
2. Maintain robust financial controls and audit trails to ensure full compliance with internal policies and external regulatory standards.
3. Provide accurate and timely financial data and reports to support internal and external audits.
4. Ensure all financial activities are conducted in accordance with established procedures, contributing to a strong control environment.
What you’ll need
• 5 GCSE passes at grade C or above (or equivalent) including English and Maths
• Sun systems or similar
• Proactis or similar purchase order system
• Housing Enterprise or similar housing management software
• Proven ability to manage high-volume workloads under pressure and to tight deadlines
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with a collaborative, cross-team approach
• Solid understanding of core business processes and finance workflows
