YHA Borrowdale is a beautiful and diverse site in the heart of the English lake district, with a mix of guests coming to enjoy our busy bar, and beautiful wooden building from all corners of the globe all year round. We are looking for the right person, who loves the outdoors and is looking for a big challenge. We have team of up to 15 in the summer, going down to 10 in the winter, and we juggle groups, families and individuals in our 130 bed site right the way from new year to peak august bank holidays and beyond.
Can you think on your feet? Can you bring a smile to our guests? Can you follow YHA's processes and procedures? Can you look after our income streams? As a Deputy Manager youll support the Hostel Manager with the day-to-day management of the hostel. Youll create a great place for our teams to work and ensure our guests have a great experience in our hostels.

What will you be doing as a Deputy Manager?
We are a friendly team and will provide the training required for you to undertake the role. However, there is plenty for you to get stuck into from day one, including:
Delivering an excellent customer experience to all hostel guests.
Contributing towards the achievement of targets across all aspects of the hostel operation including food and beverage, and responsibility for maximising revenue whilst controlling expenditure.
Supporting the Hostel Manager by managing a team of employees and occasional volunteers.
Contributing to the team effort in the day-to-day operation of the hostel, undertaking housekeeping, reception, and food and beverage tasks on a daily basis.
What Skills and Experience do you need to be a Deputy Manager?
Our Deputy Managers support the Hostel Managers in managing the hostel team, the operational budget and safeguarding all guests.
To provide this service we are looking for candidates who have:
Experience in hospitality or customer service, including the management and delivery of a quality service
Ability to manage varying pressures, include peaks in workload demands can prioritise, able to deal with conflicting duties
Experience of managing a team experience of leading others, providing guidance to members of your team (desirable)
Food safety level 2 and APLH level 2 qualifications (desirable)
Basic IT skills (ideally Microsoft Office) able to use Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel
Knowledge and understanding of the core purpose of YHA what YHA does and how we do it
