Health Care Assistant - Intermediate Care (Duffy Suite)

Position: Healthcare Assistant – Intermediate Care (Band 2, NHS AfC, 12‑month contract, Fixed Term and Permanent options available).
Hours: 31.6 hours per week (Fixed Term 31.6 hours per week, Fixed Term 37.5 hours per week & Permanent 10.5 hours per week).
Salary: £24,465 per annum pro‑rata, salary period yearly, closing 25/11/2025 23:59.
Job Overview: This role provides high quality patient care within a multidisciplinary team in a 28‑bed Intermediate Care facility. Independence and collaboration are key; you will support nursing, therapy and medical colleagues to deliver person‑centred care.
Key Responsibilities:
* Support the Nursing Team with household support and direct care tasks as delegated by the Nurse in Charge.
* Assist in maintaining high standards of nursing care for patients on the unit.
* Create an environment conducive to patient recovery, pleasant for patients and families.
* Accept responsibility for delegated functions appropriate for non‑trained staff.
* Ensure nursing documentation is correct, legible and countersigned by a registered nurse.
* Adhere to all Trust policies and procedures.
* Promote health and safety for patients, relatives and staff at all times.
Clinical & Professional Responsibilities:
* Protect patient privacy and dignity.
* Maintain confidentiality of patient information.
* Report untoward incidents/occurrences promptly.
* Deliver patient care with the highest degree of professionalism.
* Present a positive image of the Trust, inspiring confidence in appearance and behaviour.
Administrative Responsibilities:
* Keep patient records up to date and accurate, recording in line with Trust policies.
Teaching & Training Responsibilities:
* Attend fire and lifting and handling lectures annually and ensure appropriate updates are attended.
* Participate in an annual performance review with the Ward Manager to identify personal development needs.
Person Specification:
Qualifications
* NVQ Level 2 (Ideally in Health Care) or equivalent qualification or equivalent experience.
* Care Certificate, or willing to work towards it upon appointment.
Knowledge and Experience
* Knowledge of clinical skills required to undertake the role.
* Knowledge of Safeguarding Vulnerable Adults procedures.
* Experience within a care setting.
Skills
* Ability to manage time and priorities effectively.
* Ability to work autonomously and use own initiative when necessary.
