Position Overview
We are seeking an enthusiastic and talented Project Manager with sound project management experience to join the team within our integrated WSP / Norfolk County Council Design Consultancy. The team manages delivery of a portfolio of projects where developers propose to make alterations to the public highway as part of their new housing estate developments. Your role will lead on ensuring developer proposals are appropriate and designed to a standard which allows Norfolk County Council to take on future maintenance.
This long‑term contract started in 2014 and has proved to be successful. Your workload will range from major highway improvements to a range of small and medium highways projects across Norfolk.
Key Responsibilities
* Managing the delivery of a portfolio of highways projects.
* Supporting the Senior Project Manager to deliver the Project Portfolio in line with client priorities.
* Coordinating between various civil engineering project team members to ensure developer‑focused projects and technical checks are delivered on time, to budget and to the agreed quality standard.
* Prioritising client satisfaction through building and maintaining strong relationships with the Estate & Major Development and Developer Services teams of Norfolk County Council and establishing trusting relationships with colleagues across the wider business to ensure effective co‑ordination for mutually beneficial outcomes.
* Developing project management plans that include a project scope, a baseline programme, a fee estimate, roles and responsibilities descriptions, risk analysis and technical review requirements.
* Managing and attending progress meetings and producing weekly/monthly reports to keep our client informed.
* Providing change control to optimise profitability, value engineering and value management, while monitoring actual and forecast fee spend.
* Developing Assistant Project Managers and Project Coordinators within the team to allow you to focus on the delivery of the schemes for our client.
Qualifications and Experience
* Experience of working within the services sector in project management.
* Experience of working in a civil engineering or related environment would be beneficial.
* A good understanding of financial planning and management.
* A good understanding of project methodology.
* The ability to work independently and as part of a team.
* Strong organisational skills and excellent communication skills.
* Relevant qualifications and/or demonstrable experience in project management.
Work Environment
This hybrid position is based at County Hall Norwich. Highway experience would be beneficial but is not essential.
