Responsibilities:
* The primary duty is to act as a vital safeguard for individuals with mental disorders, ensuring that any compulsory treatment or detention is necessary, proportionate, and respects the person's human rights.
* Responsible for managing the legal process when someone needs to be detained or treated against their will.
* Granting Consent.
* Responsible for applying to the Mental Health Tribunal for a Compulsory Treatment Order (CTO).
* Must prepare a detailed report outlining the person's social background, home life, and past wishes to ensure the Tribunal has a full picture of their life beyond their medical diagnosis.
* Act as an independent voice, often challenging medical or legal decisions to ensure the "least restrictive" option is chosen.
* Must inform patients of their right to legal representation and access to independent advocacy.
* Help patients identify and appoint a "Named Person".
* Investigate and provide reports for Guardianship Orders when an adult is unable to make decisions for themselves.
* Criminal Justice and Court Work.
* Court Reports.
* Crisis and Community Care.
Requirements:
* PVG
* SSSC registration
* Social Work Degree
