An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Clinical, Forensic, or Counselling Psychologist to join AWP Secure Services. This role involves opportunities to work across medium and low secure hospitals for men, women, and individuals with learning disabilities and autism, who present significant risks and mental health challenges such as psychosis. You will be part of a team of specialists and experienced psychological therapists, contributing to the establishment of a new Psychological Therapy Service (PTS). You will have opportunities to work alongside Clinical Psychologists, Forensic Psychologists, Counselling Psychologists, Art Psychotherapists, Drama Therapist, Music Therapists as well as trainees and students within our integrated PTS. Secure Inpatient Services consists of Fromeside (81 bed medium secure unit) and Wickham (30 bed low secure unit), based on the Blackberry Hill Hospital site in north Bristol, including a specialist women's ward and a specialist 8 bedded ward for men with learning disabilities and/or autism. The psychology team has expertise in working with a wide range of presenting difficulties including violence, sexual offending, fire setting, learning disabilities, autism, personality disorders and psychosis.


Responsibilities

* Provide direct clinical work including assessment and therapy for individuals and groups.
* Provide specialist consultancy to multidisciplinary teams and other care agencies.
* Participate in generic team duties as agreed with the operational manager and Psychology Lead.
* Engage in clinical and caseload supervision; maintain accurate records and monitor workload using agreed systems.
* Ensure timely recording of data required by the Trust; support CPA implementation as care co-ordinator where appropriate.
* Collaborate with psychiatry, nursing, arts psychotherapists, occupational therapists and speech and language therapists; deliver individualised therapeutic interventions and facilitate therapeutic groups.
* Engage in service development projects and adapt to the needs of service users with significant mental health difficulties such as psychosis and risk to others.


Professional and Governance

* Adhere to HCPC policies and procedures.
* Observe the BPS Code of Ethics and Conduct and relevant DCP guidelines; contribute to Trust and Psychology Service policies.
* Participate in local and Trust-wide psychology meetings; maintain high standards of practice through continuing professional development and networking with colleagues.
* Participate in annual performance appraisal; engage in service governance processes and multidisciplinary clinical audits.


Training, Development and Research

* Provide training, supervision and consultation in psychological approaches to the multidisciplinary team; supervise assistant psychologists and trainees.
* Collaborate to develop training courses, workshops and supervision groups; contribute to teaching of students and trainees.
* Agree personal development plans with the Psychology Lead and line manager; engage in research and audit activities relevant to service priorities.


Qualifications and Experience

* Doctorate in clinical, counselling or forensic psychology or equivalent (forensic).
* HCPC registered or eligible to register by start date.
* Experience of working with complex mental health problems; interest in a forensic setting.
* Skills in psychological/clinical assessment and interventions for adults with mental health difficulties.


Essential Personal Qualities

* Evidence of teamwork, resilience and self-awareness.
* Organised and able to work autonomously; strong empathy and engagement skills.


Other Requirements

* Disclosure and Barring Service check is required; applicants must have current UK professional registration.
