Consultant Obstetrics and Gynaecology in Oncology

Applications are invited to the post of Consultant in Obstetrics and Gynaecology with a specialist interest in Gynaecological Oncology. The role is based at James Paget University Hospital and focuses on providing high‐quality obstetric and gynaecological care while participating in a multidisciplinary oncology network.
Job responsibilities
• Share obstetric and gynaecological workload with colleagues, including out‑of‑hours responsibilities on the consultant on‑call rota (1:12 weekdays, 1:10 weekends, with review for potential change to 1:14 weekdays and 1:12 weekends).
• Provide obstetric and gynaecological access, including triage, rapid access clinics, MDT outcome and oncology follow‑up clinics.
• Assist in the development of cancer pathways and lead new pathway initiatives with the MDT.
• Participate in governance, CPD and teaching activities.
• Support senior management in shaping the future strategy of the gynaecology oncology service and manage leadership within the multidisciplinary team.
• Commit to full obstetric and gynaecological responsibilities with a special interest in Gynaecological Oncology, including early‑stage low grade endometrial cancer, intermediate risk ovarian masses, diagnostic services and general gynaecological workload.
Person Specification
Education and Qualifications
* MBBS or Basic Medical Degree
* MRCOG or equivalent
* Certificate or within 6 months of completion of training or eligibility for the UK Specialist Register at the date of interview
* Full GMC Registration
* MD/PhD (preferred)
Experience & Knowledge
* Expert clinical opinion across a wide range of obstetric and gynaecological problems
* Leadership and management skills with participation in division developments
* Experience of mentoring and leading multidisciplinary teams
* RCOG Advanced Labour ward practice ATSM or equivalent
* Independent management of obstetrics and emergency gynaecology
* High‑risk pregnancy experience
* Application of research outcomes in clinical practice
* Evidence‑based medicine utilisation for decision making
* Committee and project management experience
* Leadership in preterm prevention one‑stop clinic
* Service development projects in Obstetrics
* Multidisciplinary management of mental disorders in pregnancy
* Participation in the TOP service
* Advanced laparoscopic surgical skills
* Research project involvement and published papers
