Overview
We are looking for a Speech and Language Therapist to join our in‑house clinical team at Red Kite School. Working collaboratively with the education team, you will deliver bespoke Speech and Language Therapy assessment and intervention to pupils who may have experienced developmental trauma, be neuro‑divergent or have SEMH needs. You will work within the standards provided in the OFG Speech and Language Therapy Ways of Working, clarifying your roles and responsibilities while meeting requirements of governing and professional bodies. Hold a Speech and Language therapy caseload with support from your clinical supervisor and site lead, and contribute to staff training and consultation as required. This post suits a resilient, creative and enthusiastic individual. The role is full time and based at Heath Farm School, Kent TN27 0AX.
Responsibilities
* Deliver bespoke Speech and Language Therapy assessment and intervention to pupils with developmental trauma, neuro‑divergence or SEMH needs.
* Maintain a caseload of speech and language therapy clients.
* Provide clear communication with pupils, families, carers and the multidisciplinary team.
* Prepare and implement intervention plans and support plans based on needs profiles.
* Contribute to staff training and professional development within the clinical team.
* Work within the OFG Speech and Language Therapy Ways of Working and relevant professional standards.
* Collaborate with the education team to integrate therapy within the school setting.
* Ensure safeguarding and compliance with legislation, including DBS and social media checks.
Qualifications – Must have
* Undergraduate or Postgraduate degree in Speech and Language Therapy.
* Registered with HCPC and RCSLT.
* Relevant experience engaging individuals with complex communication profiles.
* Knowledge of neurodiversity and trauma‑informed practice.
* Experience of multi‑disciplinary working across various settings.
* Experience communicating with families, carers and support settings.
* Good relationship‑building, analytical and judgemental skills.
* Excellent oral and written communication skills.
* Effective time management and organisational skills.
* Competent in core areas of SaLT practice and understanding of RCSLT Communication Standards.
* Knowledge of SaLT assessment tools, intervention types and formulation of support plans.
* Understanding of legislation and its implications for clinical practice and professional management.
* Ability to work collaboratively as part of a multi‑disciplinary team.
* Willingness to attend training and pursue further qualifications relevant to the client group.
Desirable
* Understanding of sensory and motor differences impacting communication.
* Evidence of understanding the relationship between arousal levels and communication.
* Full driving licence and access to a car.
