 
        
        About the Role
We are recruiting for an experienced Reporting Sonographer (3 years postgraduate experience) to join our team providing Community Radiology Services at Lewes Victoria Hospital, Uckfield Community Hospital and Crowborough War Memorial Hospital.
The post is full-time, but we also consider part‑time hours, job share and flexible working arrangements.
Key Responsibilities
 * Provide a caring and compassionate imaging service at the heart of the community.
 * Work independently, demonstrating a high level of competence and excellent communication skills.
 * Support a Radiographic Assistant in performing ultrasound examinations.
 * Be skilled in general, gynae, and small parts ultrasound; experience in vascular scanning (DVT) is an advantage.
 * Undertake a range of ultrasound examinations in line with local, regional and national guidelines.
 * Organise own workload, assessing and reporting ultrasound examinations to determine pathology.
 * Justify ultrasound requests and notify referrers of any abnormal findings in an appropriate manner.
 * Communicate with patients, clients and visitors politely and respectfully, taking into account any barriers.
 * Liaise with multidisciplinary team members in a polite and professional manner concerning patient management and care.
 * Work independently within a clearly defined set of departmental protocols and make informed clinical decisions in the absence of a Radiologist.
 * Support the leadership, supervision and line management of a team of radiographers, sonographers and radiographic assistants.
 * Undertake any other duties at the request of the line manager commensurate with the role, including project work, internal job rotation and absence cover.
Qualifications
 * Minimum of 3 years post‑graduate experience as a sonographer.
 * Excellent communication skills and ability to work independently.
 * Skilled in general, gynae and small parts ultrasound.
 * Experience in vascular scanning (e.g., DVT) is an advantage.
