School Information
This historic Catholic college, founded in the 19th century, is located just a short distance from Manchester city centre and educates more than 1,500 pupils from Nursery through to Sixth Form. The campus blends beautiful listed buildings with modern facilities, creating a unique learning environment. The school has invested significantly in specialist teaching areas, including state-of-the-art science laboratories, ICT suites, sports halls, and a theatre that hosts both academic and cultural events.
Academic outcomes are consistently strong. In 2023, 73% of GCSE students achieved grades 9–5, with Science subjects among the top performers. At A-Level, more than 40% of entries were graded A–A*, and the majority of Sixth Form students progress to Russell Group universities, with many going on to study Medicine, Engineering, and STEM-related degrees.
The Science department is one of the most dynamic areas of the school, with a focus on combining academic rigour with practical exploration. Students benefit from weekly lab-based practicals, science clubs, national Olympiad competitions, and partnerships with local universities. The department has a track record of producing high achievers, with several students winning awards in national STEM challenges.
Beyond academics, the college places strong emphasis on character education and Catholic values, ensuring that students develop resilience, compassion, and responsibility. Boarding is also offered, giving the school an international dimension and diverse student body. Staff are supported with ongoing professional development, mentoring for ECTs, and opportunities to take on leadership roles within a stable and supportive community.
